Reiterating my post from January 2019: It's important to reject Tim Eyman's Initiative 976 because it would hurt transit. Even analysts like me who initially raised concerns about the sudden costs of “Sound Transit 3” want transit expanded, including easier connections to light rail and more bus service. Eyman’s short-sighted initiative would slash car tab fees which would, in turn, slash transit. While we're all focused on the August primary, be prepared to Vote No on I-976 in November so we can expand transit, which is good for our economy and environment.Hearing from our state legislators in 46th LD tonight. Important for City Council to work with them to support transit. Even folks like me who initially raised concerns about sudden costs of “Sound Transit 3” are eager to support expansion of transit, including easier connections to light rail, more bus service, and fighting Eyman’s new short-sighted initiative to slash car tabs which would hurt transit. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/transportation/tim-eyman-says-30-car-tab-initiative-will-be-on-... ... Perhaps Sound Transit should have thought more before colluding with Transportation Choices Coalition and running a purposely deceitful campaign on the ST3 initiative. Word on the street is ST4 is now being discussed. Jenny Durkan announced weeks after taking office that one of her most pressing issues was to implement tolling of the city in her first term. This was interesting because she never mentioned it during her campaign. So, we don't have the solutions in place that we agreed to pay for with ST2 and ST3 yet, but, we're going to be taxed for using one of the the few viable options available. Meanwhile, Jenny Durkan travels in unmarked police cars because she was previously a US Attorney. It smacks of elitism and when she hands a cushy Deputy Mayor appointment to TCC executive Shefali Ranganathan it's a slap in the face to those of us who live and work in Seattle. Hence, an initiative of this type is really the only way for us to claw back some of the money being taken from us and send a message to the establishment that we're simply not a checkbook for special interests and they should consider us before orchestrating political shenanigans and paying off their friends with our money.
